WHO WE ARE

Can we create a better world together? Absolutely.

Are you on fire for justice and believe in the dignity of every human being?  Are you convinced that with common sense leaders and better choices, we can meet every challenge we face?

If you are a candidate, a caucus chair, a labor union leader, or heading up a mission-based organization, we may be the strategic partner you are looking for.

Taylor Coots, Principal

Taylor Coots has spent the better part of two decades doing the hard, meaningful work of democratic politics — and loving every minute of it. As co-founder and principal of Blue Dot Consulting, the Louisville-based boutique firm he built alongside his wife and partner Kelsey, Taylor brings a rare combination of strategic vision, deep campaign experience, and genuine commitment to the causes and candidates he serves. Blue Dot isn't a factory — it's a values-based, mission-driven practice built on trust, relationships, and the belief that bold, well-executed campaigns can change things for the better.

That belief has been put to the test — and proven — time and again. As lead strategist, Taylor helmed the effort that helped Charles Booker close a 50-point gap in the 2020 U.S. Senate primary, ultimately losing by just two points in one of the most remarkable closing runs in Kentucky political history. In 2024, Taylor co-designed the campaign to defeat Amendment 2 — Kentucky's school voucher ballot measure — with Kelsey, who then took the reins and ran it to a 30-point victory. That same cycle, Taylor secured a 21-point win for Yes for Parks in Lexington, delivering a dedicated Park Fund for the city, and helped guide Rep. Anne Donworth to a commanding win in a hard-fought primary. Across nearly three dozen races in nine states, from city council chambers to presidential caucuses, Taylor has built a reputation for winning the races that matter most.

What sets Taylor apart isn't just the wins — it's how he gets there. He co-creates strategy with his candidates and partners rather than handing down a playbook, building campaigns that are smart, nimble, and deeply rooted in the culture and community they're fighting for. Whether he's running a statewide ballot measure or a down-ballot legislative race, Taylor's approach is the same: build trust first, then build the campaign around it.

When he's not in the middle of a race, Taylor is at home in Louisville with Kelsey and their two spirited daughters, Avery and Sophie, who keep life wonderfully unpredictable. You'll find him catching college football whenever he can, working on his golf game, or putting in time on his voice. If you cross paths at an event, he'd love to say hello — so please don't hesitate.

Fun Fact

Taylor is taking voice lessons. He can’t sing and as a true novice, the listener experience is described as marginal, at best.

Kelsey Coots, Principal

Kelsey grew up in a family and tight knit community that taught her the importance of service - to others and to a cause bigger than herself. Since then, she has pursued a mission to take on inequity and fight for a better world. First, as a teacher leader in Houston, then as an award winning teacher in Louisville. Starting in 2014, her mission took her into politics where she had an immediate impact - helping bring in a record haul of fundraising dollars as the Kentucky House Democratic caucus defended its majority.

Since then she was a leader in the teacher’s movement in Kentucky, worked with multiple candidates at the State and Federal level, and has guided new organizations all while successfully developing and executing innovative strategies in digital and political organizing, and finance. She even ran for office herself.

In 2018, she co-founded Blue Dot Consulting to further expand the mission and help like-minded candidates, caucuses and causes pursue a better world. The results speak for themselves. In 2022, she led the organizing effort to defeat the anti-abortion amendment campaign in Kentucky. In 2024, she ran the campaign to defeat a Constitutional Amendment about vouchers – winning in every county in Kentucky, and securing an overall victory by 30 points.

Kelsey’s mantra is, “Kentucky is worth fighting for.” And that’s just what she is going to do.

Kelsey lives in Louisville, KY with her husband, Taylor, and their daughters, Avery and Sophie.

Fun Fact

In 2012, Kelsey thought she was only temporarily rescuing a tiny, 9 week old, stray dog. Nine years and 100lbs later and Miss Charles Barkley, a pit/chow mix, rarely leaves Kelsey’s side.
